Del Mar Fair Meets the Mormon Battalion
Dearest Family!!!
This week has been a week of miracles! We picked up three new investigators and they all are really interested in their salvation so we are way excited to show them the only way! This was my crazy day at the Del Mar Fair aka San Diego County Fair!!! We were sent on special assignment by Elder Evans to promote the Mormon Battalion at this fair. We thought we were going to a dinky little Utah fair. Little did we know that this is the 5th largest county fair in the Nation which is way bigger then our State Fair!!! We were blown away by how big it was and how many things they had there. It was like all the fairs you see in the movies. They do exist! Of course I recognized Frank Hess! I know my family and I've been trained well by my grandparents. Grandpa and grandma totally sent me money from mom giving Grandma a perm. I love it and I will use those to do laundry! You two are the best grandparents! I could tell I really shocked him but then he kept coming back to visit me. He said he is going to send me a package and bring his family to come visit us. It was Old Town day so we were there with all the other places in Old Town as well. And yes they did make us wear our pioneer dresses which I'm not sure was the best idea ever. We were often confused as polygamists so whenever someone stared at us we made sure we talked to them. Most of these pictures go out to my dear Daddio. At the firefighter booth, this man was very impressed with our lifestyle and wanted us to explain what made us so motivated in life. He then pointed at a cop and said, "Hey Mormon get over here!" He was a way cool Mormon cop and he gets a lot of crap for being a member but they respect him a lot as well. Pretty cool representation. I'm sure it's the same for you Jake! :) Of course there was a booth near us that thinks the millennium is coming in 2043. We were sad that we couldn't talk to him. California is obsessed with guessing which day is the second coming. There were billboards all over for May 21, 2011 and look how that turned out for them! They should probably just leave it in God's hands I would think... Dad that is a championship winning dog. I only got near it for you. But Dad I'm also a pilot of the coolest airplane. They told me to ask you if you knew what FKP meant on the tail... I got to talk to them and seriously you all should come out for the air show. It's supposed to be even better then the Nellis one. Too bad I won't get to know that for a lot of years to come. But I did get an amazing contact that is letting us do a reenactment of the Mormon Battalion at the air show!!! The man that was helping us at the booth said it was worth coming to the fair for me to get that contact! Good thing I have a problem with talking to anyone that is in the military or flies. They totally did a Wild West Dog Show. Stupidest thing ever until we watched turkey races. Can you believe I'm on a mission!? No worries we never forget our purpose and invited a lot of people to access the Atonement in their life. I am learning more and more that the Atonement is what it is all about. The people around me are not accessing the Atonement because they haven't been baptized and I hold that key to let them know about having that in their life. Without missionaries, there is no way that these people could have the healing power of the Atonement in their life and it has changed my whole outlook. The work is true and we are in the time of our lives when there is no fence sitting. We must be actively working to build the kingdom of God in our own lives and in the lives of the people around us. This gospel is true and it changes EVERYTHING in our life. Bah, I just love it! The church is true so keep spreading the word. Do whatever it takes to access the Atonement every single week at Sacrament because it is so worth it. It changes my life every single day. I love you all and think of you every day. You are all in my prayers.
Love,
