Week 7 May 10, 2011

Familia!!!

It was so good to call home a couple of days ago but now I'm running out of words to write! I will answer Mom's questions and maybe throw in a couple of stories here and there! :) My Birthday was amazing and so far I have only gotten the stuff from the parents and grandparents which yes I do know how spoiled I am! I'm sure the other packages will come today and I can't wait to open them! You are all AMAZING! Now for Mom's questions:

How much longer does your companion have?

She goes home in August! I may be her last companion but who knows. We have a transfer in two weeks and you never know with the MoBatt sisters. Our transfers don't require lots of moving!
Where is she from?

Riverton, Utah
Who does the driving? What is the car like?

She does all the driving because I'm not allowed to drive until I get the driving record sent here. I'm still not sure what that means so I'm working on that today! We have a different car every single day because they rotate throughout the MoBatt sisters. All new cars that are Malibu’s, Corollas, etc. Pretty nice stuff.
Are you getting lost still?

Not anymore with my handy dandy GPS. :) Thanks for that Daddio!!!!
How has the weather been?

SUNNY! It was really cold the last few days but just rainy and I'll not see snow until I move back to Utah that is apparently still a snow globe! That's so crazy that it's still snowing. I'll pray for Logan to be kept safe so that I have a place to go back to! Thank heavens the school is up on a hill! :)
Do you see the sisters from the MTC?

Every single day! We see each other all the time at the Mormon Battalion!
Best day:

The best days are always when we get to teach a lesson and the person is accepting. The days we actually get to teach are always the best days and when we are the most happy! The MoBatt is always a place of refuge on those days that are not as good as the others!

Worst day:

Actually just happened last night. :( I took this family on a tour from Logan, Utah last night so I was really excited to talk to them about Logan. They were really standoffish (not sure if that is even a word!) and kept getting offended over the stupidest things. Like when I asked them if they were actually from Logan or one of the surrounding towns. They got mad at me for calling them out. It was just really weird and something just wasn't right with the group. They both seemed in their mid twenties with an eight year old son as well. At the end of the tour, I was playing a game with the son when I could hear one of the sisters telling them about my boot and that I was in the army. So I looked over and said, "Air Force." The man went CRAZY. Apparently, he just got off a tour in Iraq two weeks ago and spent all that time with Airmen. He went off about how horrible the Air Force is and was yelling so loud he got real red in the face. You'll be proud mom. I kept real cool and mostly just nodded my head and ignored him. But I couldn't help stand up for the Air Force just a little bit and he calmed down a little bit. So he asked me what I was doing in the Air Force and I told him about ROTC. Well that set him off again and he kept going on and on about how horrible all the officers are. It was pretty ugly. The wife was really embarrassed and kept trying to quiet him down. The other sister who had started the madness kept trying to calm him down by saying things like, "I don't even understand the differences between the branches." or "I'm just proud of you all for fighting for our freedom." I was just plain silent and statute like. When the senior Elder Brenchley found out, he was ready to go and kick the man out for me. The senior couples are very protective of us sisters but luckily the family left by then and all was calm again. I found out from the wife that their families are members but they are very inactive. I wish they could understand how much happier they would be if they were living by the gospel and he would have a much cooler head. But I bounced back I promise! :)

Would it be helpful if I sent some blank cards?

I've got good cards so no worries!

Where do you find stuff like that?

Target, Wal-Mart etc. We can shop where ever we want to on P-Day. There are Targets EVERYWHERE. I love it!

Do you have a 7-11 close? I noticed a few charges there! Are you stopping for a Dr. Pepper?

Haha sometimes we stop for a slurpee. :) 7-11 are all over the place as well!

I really did pick out the two purples to go together; they were so different they match! Really! Did the white sweater fit?

I hope you liked the stuff!

I loved EVERYTHING you sent me and everything fit perfect!!! Sister Seguin made the cake mix for me while I was in the shower. She was amazing on my Birthday and made it the best day ever. Combined with the presents from you all and talking on the phone of course! :)

Did you notice a couple of dollars in the pocket of your purse?

YES! It made me laugh and really happy! I love you all lots!

Well family, that really does sum it up! We picked up a new investigator Sunday night named Renato so it was a perfect end to my Birthday. His sister was baptized a year ago but only did it for the missionaries so we have been stopping by her place a lot to get her back to church. Sunday night when we went to visit her she wasn't home but Renato let us teach him and wants to learn more! The family is from the Philippines so their mom was teaching us words and she wants us to teach her English. It was a huge miracle because they don't usually even let us in their home! This place is continuing to be amazing and I love the work. The church is true so keep spreading the word!!!

Love,

Sister Haggerty
