Week 4 April 19, 2011

Aloha!

Aloha Familia!

Yes, in fact I have died and gone to Heaven. No big deal. I just live in the most beautiful place in the world! I've seen the beach from a distance but that is about it. I still act a little bit like a tourist sometimes because I get super excited when we drive around. I just love looking at everything! There are so many natural flowers and they paint everything really bright colors. As you can see, my P-Day is on Tuesdays and I can only write/get mail/packages on my p-day. They sure do keep us focused on the work and I love it! I haven't gotten my mail today yet so I'm not sure of what I have received yet. There was a letter waiting for me from Sister Einfeldt when I got here so it's the only mail I've gotten yet! She's a sweetheart. Our first day here was super overwhelming but President and Sister Donaldson know how to treat us well. We went straight to the Mission home which is GORGEOUS and it up on a hill so it overlooks San Diego. It sure does look expensive and is so pretty on the inside. President Donaldson taught us his words of wisdom and then oh wait for it... let us take a NAP. He is honestly the best mission president in the world and I have already learned so much from him. We ate dinner after and then had interviews/learned more about what we are facing. They don't mess around here and the next morning they got us companions and put us to work. My companion is Sister Seguin and she is a little fireball. She was made a trainer the transfer before I came here and she was a little shocked that she only got six weeks with her companion. She was a little shell shocked but she got over it quickly. Only downfall is that because she didn't think she would train again already, she didn't have any food so we almost starved. But Sister Donaldson gave us permission to buy food early. It was way funny! But as Jake knows, we went straight to the Mormon Battalion (aka MoBatt) after we had some more training for the Pilot program which was even a new program for my trainer. It's pretty intense and it adds an hour of studying every single day. But my very first steps into the MoBatt, I look over, see Jake, and keep walking. I looked at my companion and was like, "My brother is in there." Super awkward like. She was like seriously!? And I said, "Yep, Can I go talk to him?" She said yes but I was still super awkward so I apologize greatly Jake. Haha. I just didn't know what I was allowed to do but it's totally cool. There are no rules against it and I could have acted more natural about it but I was a goober. My bad! They discourage it but don't ban it. We spend a lot of time there and it is honestly a very holy place. I love it so much and Jake can tell you all about it I'm sure! I already have the tour down and I love spending time there! My area is La Jolla Singles Ward and it is a way big area. It's a super rich ward but the members are amazing. Only one investigator named Brie and she's been seeing the missionaries for quite a while. Pray for her to finally decide to get baptized. She says she wants to be a Mormon but to not rock the boat just yet. I found a new investigator named Yun from Japan so pray for the gift of tongues for all of us. Honestly, the work is struggling in our ward so please pray for them to invite their friends to church! I don't have much more time but send me your questions and I will answer them. It's usually easier that way! Next week, because our mission is the best in the world and everyone watches our mission (seriously though it is hardcore watched my the church), Elder Perry is coming to speak so for one week P-Day will be on Monday and then Tuesday again. I love you all so much and miss you lots.

The church is true so keep spreading the word!

Love

Sister Haggerty

I meant Sister Seguin. Like C-Gun
