Best week EVER!
FFFFAMILY!!!
This week has probably been the best week of my entire mission! This trio is on fire. It's a nonstop giggling sleepover party. We now have TWO investigators with a baptism date of July 30th!!!!! The nice thing about covering three areas (Battalion, La Jolla Singles, UC 1st Family Ward) is that you are NEVER out of people to visit or things to do. We have not stopped moving since we got together. But WOW the miracles have been so great. We were going to contact one of the referrals named Salem. He is 54 years old and he is from Iraq. He is straight up pure gold! His brother and sister joined the church a while ago in Iraq. Who knew that was possible right!? He just went to Iraq to see his 8 year old nephew get baptized and he loved it. He made a really good friend that is American and lives in Utah now. She referred him and that's how we met him. His siblings have been working on Salem ever since but he kept telling him to not push him too hard. Well apparently that has changed big time. He said that the church just makes sense and that he knows that it is true. He now tells EVERYONE that he is already Mormon and he can't wait to get baptized. It is so much fun to teach him because he was raised in the Holy Land and knows the Bible inside and out. He just gets it that God lives and has a plan for him. He's got some changing to do but he said he will give up anything to follow Jesus Christ. Too legit. At the last lesson, he had something around his neck and so I asked him about it. His eyes lit up and he says, "This is what John the Baptist said right after Jesus Christ was baptized." I look at the Sisters and I'm like, "Do you realize what this is!?" If you are still confused read D&C 93. It will blow your mind like it did mine. I don't know if it is legitimately it but still pretty cool that he has it. He has been teaching us Aramaic and Arabic. I'm horrible at it and it makes him laugh when I try. He said we are his family now. :) But transfers are tomorrow and I'm getting nervous that we won't be a trio and covering both areas anymore. Sorry you'll have to wait a week to find out what happened. We have not stopped laughing since we got together. We totally found this guy doing Tie Chi in the parking lot so naturally we had to get to talk to him. There are so many Asians in our area and they are always so willing to talk to us but not always willing to talk to us again. We got him to commit to go to the website mormon.org and he taught us Tie Chi so it was a pretty fair trade off. :) Jessica also has a baptism date for July 30th and she is just the coolest. We taught her that she was a daughter of God and we asked her how she felt about it. She looks at us and says, "Well at first I thought that is cool then I was like no that's really cool. Wait, that's AWESOME!" She loved it. It is so amazing to see someone how doesn't understand who she is finally get the amazing potential she has. She is reading her Book of Mormon like crazy and praying every single day. I can't wait to send you pictures of Jessica and Salem. I've never been happier in my whole life. Okay so probably not true but I'm pretty happy right now. Sister Kunz says that we are too comfortable together so they will probably change us up so we keep saying how uncomfortable we are and that we are not sure if we want to stay together so we don't jinx it. It might work. The pictures are of my new district, the trio at Red Robin, Sister Pelfrey and I in each other's dresses running into each other, and Sis Seguin with me standing in front of a fan after they cleaned the carpets at the battalion to dry them. I've never been more tired in my life but never more happy. It is a testament every single day of the truthfulness of this message. It is why I have to be out here every single day spreading the word so people can have the same joy we have in our life. There is nothing better than when people figure that out for themselves and change their lives to be more like Jesus Christ. Family, the church is true so keep spreading the word. I just love you and miss you lots.
Love
Sister Haggerty
