Family!!!
Hello Dear Family!
HAPPY 4th of JULY! Wow, seriously I feel like I was just emailing you all! Time just keeps flying! Thank heavens I was just put into a family ward as well. I am finally getting fed by the members and now I'm going to have to really worry about gaining weight. I think the lack of getting fed by the singles ward was at least keeping me my same weight. I'm a goner now with adding the new area. We got an AMAZING dinner on Sunday with two of the sisters in our ward that made us a real good mom meal. Pork chops, green beans, cheesy potatoes, brownies/ice cream, etc. For the 4th of July, we got to eat two breakfasts. First, a ward had a party at the battalion with pancakes, sausage, eggs. We ate up there and then went to our own ward breakfast and got breakfast burritos San Diego style. SOO GOOD. They had a mini parade with all the kids dressing up their bikes for the fourth and riding around the parking lot. It totally took me back to Utah. I love my new ward so much. They are very missionary minded and they even brought some potentials to the breakfast for us to met. We combined parties with another ward so the Elders were there as well. It's just us sisters in the UC 1st family ward. Naturally, our ward mission leader had to invite us to lunch to have RIBS! We tried contacting a few people in between but no success. The lunch was sooo good too. We spent the rest of the day at the Battalion. No better way to spend the fourth of July in San Diego! Two of my Marine friends came to the Battalion and I got to take them on the tour. Marine's still remind me of you Grandpa! We also have a recent convert named Sarg in his 70s and he was a Marine as well so of course he had to take me throughout his house to show me his pictures of him being a Marine. I've just always had a knack with the elderly and we always become best friends. :) It still amazes me that he was so willing to listen to the missionaries and be baptized at that age. His wife swears that she will die Catholic but she is warming up to us more and more every single day. That night we got to watch the fireworks with all the Battalion sisters up in the tower. We also had a party and had smores in the campfire room while singing patriotic songs. Don't be confused, we did not actually get to make a fire. :) The senior couples keep us spoiled as well with fruit and sherbet, seven layer dip, and goodness. We are surely taken care of by them. It was by far the best holiday I've had out yet! Can I say enough times how blessed I am to have been called to this mission!? Transfers are next Wednesday and we are getting a new Battalion sister to train. We are guessing that are trio is going to get split up at the transfer and we are pretty sad about that. We have had so much fun together and we've loved spreading the good word! It's madness with a trio but we've seemed to make it work. We had a sweet miracle last week when we got to teach a girl named Jessica. She works for a lady that works in our building and all the battalion sisters run into her a lot. I guess all of us trying to get her to the battalion finally worked and she referred! She told us that she has always been so impressed by us and that we are so kind to her. Every time she's having a bad day, we were there to say hello and brighten our day. Big reminder for me to say hello to EVERYONE we see! We sometimes never know the impact that we have on the people around us and how much we stand out. She is already doing some many of the things she is supposed to. She has already asked for work off on Sunday because she said that it just feels like a special day... :) She also said that she's just had this nagging question her whole life of where she came from!!! Jessica has never even really gone to church and she already gets so much of it. Gold! Family, I can't say enough how true this church is and how important the message is that we have to share. We have the key for people to access the Atonement in their lives and that knowledge completely changes my perspective on life. I'm continuing to grow and learn more every single day. I've started to realize that becoming perfect is not going to come with the snap of fingers but after a lifetime of changing to become more like our Savior. It's so worth it. I love you all so much and miss you like crazy. You are all always in my prayers and thoughts. The church is true so keep spreading the word!
Love,
